The Problem of Dichotomies.

So much of the discourse these days is left vs right, black or white, up and down, and all around the fringes; but we ignore the vast detail of the in-between: the beautiful colors of nuance.

So much of the Postmodern way of thought is spent contrasting itself against the starkness of the Enlightenment, and the Age of Reason, that all the wondrous beauty this synthesis could create is ignored in favor of pushing the boundaries ever further; deepening divides and pushing polarities past their breaking.

So much of the speech is charged - setting him against her, dividing us from them, and, turning every forward thinking person against the past that laid our foundations!

So much time is wasted, doing tit for tat, making mountains of molehills, and burning every bridge that dare lead to the mention of that precarious word: peace.

The dangers of dichotomic thinking are ever present, yet still the disparate voices proclaim that, “there be no unity here".

Humanities divides are but a trifle thing compared with its troubles and potential futures, yet, with the rhetoric of our alleged “leaders”, one would think we’ve reached the End of History, and that the only thing left to do is squabble over slights, and crush the ever-loving Light out of the remnant.
But, if there be one thing we know of humanity, from stories near and far, from successes and failures aplenty, from our religions and our philosophies, is that deep down in our core, shines the beacon of a new era: HOPE.

We’ve seen dark ages turn into renaissance’s; we’ve witnessed periods of revolutions unfold into eras of prosperity, and we will overcome!

Despite the naysayers and the fear mongers, despite the doom merchants and the misanthropes, we will, once again, learn to look inward, instead of at the other, and kindle that holy fire of hope within, and spread that vision anew towards horizons yet unseen!

Per aspera ad astra.
